A Drywall Patch Shouldn't Look Like a Patch

Putting a piece of drywall into a hole is the easy part.
Getting the repair to blend into the surrounding wall takes more work.

The patch needs to be properly supported, taped, finished, feathered and sanded. Rushing those steps can leave visible seams, raised areas or a repair that becomes noticeable as soon as light hits the wall.

We take the time to prepare the repair properly so the finished surface is ready for primer and paint.

Should Drywall Be Repaired or Replaced?

It depends on the damage.

A hole, crack or isolated damaged area can often be repaired. Larger areas of water damage, deteriorated drywall or extensive damage may require removing and replacing a section.

With water damage, we also want to know that the source of the moisture has been corrected before closing the wall back up. Covering damaged drywall without addressing the underlying problem can turn a relatively simple repair into a much larger one later.

Not sure what you have?

Send Deft Craftsman a few photos and we'll help you determine the next step.

Drywall Repair After Plumbing and Electrical Work

Sometimes the drywall isn't the original problem.
A plumber needs access to a pipe. An electrician opens a wall to run wiring. A contractor removes a fixture and leaves an opening behind.

Once that work is finished, you're left looking at the hole.

Deft Craftsman can repair and close those openings so you don't have to hunt for another contractor just to get your wall back together.

Small Drywall Repairs Are Welcome

You don't need an entire room renovated to call us.

One damaged wall. A couple of holes. A ceiling patch. Damage from an old television mount.
Those jobs count too.

Deft Craftsman provides handyman and home improvement services for homeowners who have a list of smaller repairs that still need to get done.

If you have several items around the house, ask us about taking care of them during the same visit.

Drywall Repair for Landlords and Property Managers

Wall damage is also common between tenants.

We can handle drywall repairs as part of a rental turnover, including holes, damaged corners, wall repairs and other punch list items that need attention before the property is ready for the next tenant.

Combining several repairs into one visit can also make more sense than scheduling a separate contractor for every item.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does drywall repair cost in New Jersey?

It depends on the size and location of the damage, the type of repair required and the amount of finishing work involved. Several small repairs completed during the same visit can often be more economical than scheduling them separately.

Send us photos of the damaged area and we can determine what information we need to provide an estimate.

Can you repair a small hole in drywall?

Yes. Small holes are one of the most common drywall repairs we handle. We also repair larger openings caused by damage, plumbing work, electrical work and removed fixtures.

Can you repair drywall water damage?

Often, yes, but the source of the water needs to be identified and corrected first. Depending on the extent of the damage, the affected drywall may need to be removed rather than simply patched.

Do you repair drywall ceilings?

Yes. We can repair many types of ceiling drywall damage, including holes, cracks and damaged sections.

Can you repair several holes during one appointment?

Absolutely. In fact, if you have several drywall repairs or other small projects around the house, tell us about everything when you contact us. It may make sense to handle multiple items during the same visit.

Will I be able to see the drywall patch afterward?

A properly finished drywall repair should blend closely with the surrounding surface. Existing wall texture, lighting and paint condition can affect the final appearance, particularly if the surrounding paint has aged or faded.
